A Goldsboro woman is facing charges of rape and sexual offense after she was accused of assaulting a 15-year-old back in 2016.
Twenty-six-year-old Jessica Lynn Uzzell of 200 W. Tarklin Drive has been charged with one count each of first-degree statutory rape and first-degree statutory sexual offense. Uzell and the 15-year-old were “known to be involved with each other,” according to a release from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident allegedly occurred in Uzzell’s home.
WCSO Capt. Shawn Harris described the investigation as “quick and thorough.”
“It didn’t even take us two weeks,” he said. “It was more like a 10-day investigation. Our people did a great job.”
Uzzell’s bond was set at $750,000. Her next court appearance is set for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
