Goldsboro man accused of sexually exploiting minors through social media

A Goldsboro man has been accused of sexually exploiting minors through social media in an investigation that dates back to July.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office charged 34-year-old Brantley Gurley with two counts of felony sexual exploitation of a minor last week.

The Sheriff's Office said its investigation into the case began almost a year ago, when investigators got a tip that an unknown person was "targeting minors through the use of social media."

The Sheriff's Office called in the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation to help in the case. The SBI's Internet Crimes Against Children Unit took the lead "due to the scale of the investigation," according to a release from the Sheriff's Office.

Gurley’s bond was set at $20,000. He is currently out on bond. His next court appearance will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22.
