Charles Brown, former town manager for Mount Olive, has been employed as a business development representative with Withers Ravenel.
The full-service civil and environmental engineering firm serves both the public and private sectors. It’s headquartered in Cary, and has operations in Raleigh and Asheville.
According to company officials, Brown’s 14-year tenure at the helm of a “thriving town” will help the firm’s clients navigate challenging issues related to infrastructure, grants, funding and finance, project management and customer service.
Brown handled day-to-day operations for Mount Olive and juggled budgets that totaled more than $8 million. He also directed more than $18 million in water, wastewater and other projects, and supervised 65 full-time employees.
In addition, he served on several Wayne County and local government commissions and councils related to business, utilities, planning transportation and economic development.
Company officials said, “Charles understands the importance of the bottom line to communities and their businesses and industries.”
A U.S. Army veteran, Brown earned a Bachelor’s degree at N.C. State University and furthered his education at UNC Wilmington’s Academy of Strategic Management.
