Smith’s Chapel — Preston Eugene Grantham, 60, lifelong resident of the Smith’s Chapel community near Mount Olive, died Sunday morning, Feb. 2, 2020 at Wayne Hospital.
Son of the late Carlton and Betty Thompson Grantham, Eugene had operated Gene’s Cleaning Service, had repaired small engines, and was operating Twilight Vape Shop at the time of his passing.
The family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home on Saturday, Feb. 8, beginning at noon with services to follow at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. Family and friends are also being received at the home of his brother, Gary, on Waller Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the funeral home to help with expenses will be appreciated.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Marie R. Grantham; a son and daughter-in-law, Preston and Paige Grantham of Savannah, Ga; a brother, Gary D. Grantham of Mount Olive and fiancee, Gerrie Blizzard of Goldsboro; step-sons, Michael Wells and wife, Kim, of Princeton, and Eugene Wells of Mount Olive and significant other, Brooke Whitley of Fremont; nephew and nieces, Cole Grantham, Claire Grantham, and Carly Grantham and fiancee, Josh Grady, all of Mount Olive; and step-grandchildren, Adell, Jason, Cameron, and Dana Wells, and Jonathan Whitley.
