Early voting begins Thursday

Greetings from the Wesley Smith Chapel Community!

I would like to make a correction on an error that was made on the name of Mother Maxine Steven who was a she and not a he and was a lifetime member of Goshen Disciple Church and a longtime usher there. She served on the church’s kitchen committee. The family of Maxine Stevens would like to send a very special thank you to each and everyone for your many prayers, your phone calls and your thoughts during the time of her passing.

St. Luke Church of Christ will celebrate and honor its pastor and lady elect Elder Kenneth and Vesta Freeman with guest preacher, Elder Donald Dewitt of Goshen Disciple Church of Faison, at 11 a.m. Nov. 1.

Election time is so near. Every vote will make a difference and every voice shall be heard. Early voting begins Thursday. If you have received your absentee ballot to vote, please fill it out, sign it and have a witness sign it to verify your vote and take it to your election office if you don’t feel comfortable dropping it in the mail.

• Wayne County Public Library at 1001 E. Ash St., Goldsboro;

Happy 8th pastoral anniversary to Pastor Gertie Stevens. A celebration parade was set to be held in his honor Saturday. May God continue to bless you to have many more blessed years.

Final word

Until next week, remember lets go to the election boards and vote like your life depended on it. Remember to wear your mask, stay 6 feet apart from others, use and keep sanitizer in your pocket. Check on the elderly at all times. It is so bad for them to be in the house by themselves and die alone. Check on them.
