KENANSVILLE – A spike in COVID-19 cases from the holiday season prompted the Duplin County Board of Education to keep its schools in Plan C — 100% remote instruction — until Jan. 29.
The board made the decision after consultation with the Duplin County Health Department.
Students will resume Plan B on Feb. 1.
Plan A instruction begins March 5 for students in grades K-5. Students in grades 6-12 will continue Plan B.
“The Board of Education will continue to monitor the situation in coordination with the Duplin County Health Department and school status notifications will be provided accordingly,” board members said in a released statement.
All staff should report to work as per the district’s current calendar.
Staff, faculty and students are reminded to follow safety protocol — face coverings, hand sanitizing and social distance guidelines.
Duplin County Schools will continue with curbside meal pickup and community distribution.
