Dudley man arrested in traffic stop

A traffic stop led to the arrest of a Dudley man on Oct. 13.

Mount Olive police say they observed a vehicle traveling north on U.S. Highway 117. Officer A. Kornegay reportedly stopped the vehicle for a “license plate violation” near the highway’s intersection with N.C. Highway 55.

Kornegay found Albert Daye Jr., 34, in possession of a 9-millimeter handgun and discovered a warrant for his arrest, according to an arrest report.

Daye, who was convicted of a felony in 2006, was served with the outstanding warrant and charged with possessing a firearm as a felon.

Officers booked Daye into the Wayne County Detention Center under a $2,500 secured bond.
