The Goldsboro Rotary Club will present the public with an opportunity to honor fallen heroes on the campus on Wayne Community College.
Thanks to a partnership with the college, hundreds of United States flags will fly on its lawns in “A Tribute to Service Above Self,” as Goldsboro Rotarians bring their inaugural Field of Honor flag display to the heart of eastern North Carolina. This formation honors those who by their lives honor the flag, according to a release from the club.
Flags in the display may be dedicated to show support and honor active-duty military, veterans, first responders and neighbors or in memory of someone whose life honors or has honored the flag in a tangible and visible way. Identified by special tags, these flags may be sponsored for $40 and the flag with its tag will be received by sponsors as a memento of the event. Proceeds will raise funds to support charitable programs of Rotary International and the Goldsboro club.
The Goldsboro Field of Honor display is made possible through donations, sponsorships and the efforts of volunteers.
The club invites all to visit the Goldsboro Field of Honor display and walk among the posted flags. The display is open to all without charge.
An opening ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, May 19 at 1p.m., but the club is accepting flag sponsorships and dedications now. Go to www.goldsbororotary.com and click on Field of Honor to purchase a flag.
