Calypso woman jailed on theft charge

A Calypso woman has been jailed on several felony theft charges.

Arrested by officers with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was 48-year-old Tradeca Jeffers Campbell of Albritton Street.

She is charged with felony larceny and felony conversion.

The arrest actually occurred in nearby Sampson County where the woman was stopped by authorities during a traffic incident and it was discovered she was wanted on outstanding warrants.

She was turned over to Wayne County authorities and charged with felony larceny and felony conversion, as well as an order for arrest for driving with revoked license.

Her bond in Wayne County was set at $8,000.

Officers said she had been sought on allegations of failure to return rental property valued at more than $4,000.

The report stated Ms. Campbell had rented a vehicle from Parnell’s Auto Clinic on O’Berry Road in Dudley back in October of 2018 and failed to return it.

The U’Haul truck she had rented was recovered at her residence and returned to its owner, the report said.
