Longtime Mount Olive Town Manager Charles Brown has taken an early retirement, effective on July 13.
The Town’s Special Projects Director Jammie Royall was named to serve as interim town manager until a replacement for Brown can be hired.
The announcement came at the July 13 regular monthly meeting of the Town Board of Commissioners.
Brown released a statement the following morning in which he said, “After 15 wonderful years with the Town of Mount Olive and having recently passed my 75th birthday, I have reached the decision that it is time for me to step aside.”
He had served in the town’s top administrative seat since 2006.
A search committee is currently seeking a replacement, and Mayor Ken Talton said he plans to have the seat filled no later than at the end of November.
