Art and science will get equal billing during Wayne Community College’s upcoming Earth Day event.

45 youth to participate in annual ;ivestock show at Wayne Fairgrounds Thursday

The Wayne County Junior Livestock Show & Sale is scheduled for Thursday, April 13, at the Wayne County Fairgrounds. Sponsored by the Wayne County Livestock Development Association (WCLDA) and Wayne County Cooperative Extension, this project gives youth in the community an opportunity to develop basic skills in selection, management, exhibition, and marketing of animals.

College is a family affair for more than 15 pairs of UMO siblings

In Honor of National Siblings Day, April 10, the University of Mount Olive interviewed a few of the many siblings currently attending the university. Among them were twins Carter and Carson Gipson, and their older brother, Blake, as well as Kaze and Keza Green.

Patricia A. Pfeiffer has been named the 2022-2023 Katrina V. Miller Administrator of the Year by the N.C. Association of Educational Office Professionals (AEOP).

UMO has record-breaking Giving Day success

The University of Mount Olive’s sixth annual Giving Day will go in the books as the most successful fundraising event of its kind in UMO history.

UMO to hold spring plant sale

The University of Mount Olive will hold its annual spring plant sale on Friday, April 14, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. and Saturday, April 15, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the UMO Greenhouse located at 205 Bert Martin Road in Mount Olive.

Outlaw Foundation ready for annual 5K

Cancer doesn’t discriminate and comes in different forms. Researchers across the world selflessly continue to study how to minimize the damage it causes or hopefully discover a cure.

UMO board extends Croom’s contract

The University of Mount Olive Board of Trustees has announced its decision to extend Dr. H. Edward Croom’s contract as president through June 30, 2028. The unanimous vote came during the board’s January meeting.

Senior event slated for Wednesday

Senior citizens across Duplin County are urged to come out to the Events Center Wednesday for the annual Senior Christmas and Senior Expo event.


			
				                                Hayden Makelzie Cottle was presented the Dr. Thomas R. Morris Award for Academic Excellence for a student in the adult online program.

UMO holds December graduation

The University of Mount Olive’s 69th fall commencement was a family affair for Esteban Carlos Leon and his fiancée Brianna Slaughter. They were among the 303 graduates to be granted degrees during the Dec. 10 graduation. Following the ceremony graduates celebrated with family and friends outside Kornegay Arena.
