Dudley man jailed; Mount Olive man sought

By William Holloman
From reports

A variety of charges, drug allegations, driving with a revoked license, and providing officers with false information were filed by officers of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department ACE team against a Dudley man.

Arrested and jailed under a $39,000 bond was Dillon Blake Brown, a 22-year-old resident of 253 Brewington Road. He is charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine, simple possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with revoked license, and providing false information.

Officers of the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement were conducting a patrol saturation point on U.S. Highway 70 East when Brown was stopped for traveling 74 in a 55 zone. They said that initially Brown gave them a fake name. They said after revealing the suspect’s real name, they were able to determine he was wanted on a felony probation violation warrant.

They said one of the arresting officers recalled having previously arrested Brown for drug charges and that resulted in the use of his K9 partner, Ory. It resulted in the confiscation of 8.2 grams of meth, a report said.

A Mount Olive man is being sought in connection with an attempted armed robbery.

According to the Goldsboro Police Department, Demetrius Epps reported that on March 27 around 12:30 p.m., Epps and a female friend had accepted a ride from an unknown person when that person attempted to rob Mr. Epps at gunpoint. The incident happened at the Speedway/McDonald’s at 1501 W. Hwy. 70. Mr. Epps resisted the robbery, and though a gun was discharged, no one was struck. Mr. Epps and his friend exited the vehicle, and the suspect drove away.

After Mr. Epps reported the incident, law enforcement officers spotted the suspect’s vehicle the same day and attempted to make contact with the driver. The suspect fled and was pursued; he crashed the vehicle and fled the scene. The Sheriff’s Department conducted an extensive manhunt, but the suspect was not found.

Investigators have identified Ricky Terrell Ward, 33, of Bennett’s Bridge Rd., Mount Olive, as the suspect. Ward stands 5’8” and weighs approximately 200 pounds, and has tattoos on his face and neck. Warrants are on file to arrest Ward on charges of attempted armed robbery, discharge of a weapon in an occupied vehicle, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, do not approach him. Instead, contact law enforcement.
